Flagstick fiasco South Korean Soomin Lee got himself booted out of the D+D Real Czech Masters on Saturday afternoon after finding himself on the wrong side of the Rules of Golf. After opting to have his caddie attend the flagstick on the 11th green, Lee went on to drain his putt only for his caddie to forget to remove the flagstick. As it was not removed and the ball holed, Rule 11.2c would apply, which means the putt didn't count and Lee should have replayed the shot under a penalty of two strokes. However, both Lee and his caddie were unaware of this rule and once Lee had teed off on the next hole, he was disqualified under Rule 3.3c (failure to hole out). Ouch. |
