Important Notice This week we have had two people collapse out on the course, one from dehydration and the other one possible dehydration. My top tip for this week is to drink plenty of water on the golf course, especially in the current hot temperatures. This is not only important for the obvious health reasons, but lack of hydration will hinder your decision making and course management. A useful tip is to freeze at least 2L of water the night before the round, it'll melt at a steady pace and make sure you have enough water for the last and most important holes. Stay fuelled, hydrated and enjoy the weather!
Looe Golf Club joins Golf Access Golf access is an exciting new format to encourage new participants to play golf for the first time. It is an accessible route into golf and gives people the opportunity to learn to play the game on the golf course and gain valuable on course experience. This scheme will take the complete beginner through to the point where they will then be able to obtain a club handicap. The golf access scoring system is designed to be played on a shortened course (orange tees) to ensure beginners have more fun and enhance their overall experience. There are nine different levels for golfers to work through, progressing to the next level as soon as they attain the band score or better. Golfers move through the levels one at a time. Once the golfer has achieved a new level they receive either a wrist band (for juniors) or a poker chip for adults with a certificate in recognition of their achievement. The cost of becoming a participant of the scheme is £10 per person. This will be the only cost incurred. A unique golf access scorecard has been developed and will be required for every round attempted. Please contact the pro shop here if you need any help or have any queries.
