Impressive. So, so impressive.
Match play golf throws up many different obstacles than the traditional stroke play round, mainly due to the fact you're no longer competing against the course but instead an opponent. It doesn't matter if you make a birdie or double-bogey, all you need to do is beat your opponent's score on any given hole.
This was evident in the weekend's World Match Play final between hot prospect Jon Rahm and world number one Dustin Johnson. Rahm found himself five down through eight holes and realised he needed something special to get back into the match. Well how about driving a 270-yard par-four into the wind and over the water? It's this type of exciting golf that makes match play so appealing.
Ultimately it was Dustin who came out on top on the final green, completing a career WGC grand slam in the process - the first man to do so. He played some remarkable golf throughout the week, never finding himself behind in any given match. It'll take a brave man to bet against the American winning the Masters considering he's won each of his last three outings, but there are others out there who will give him a run for his money at Augusta.

Course Update
As the months seem to be flying by, we can start to look forward to spring and the growing season. In February, granular fertilizer was applied to the north facing fairways (3, 4, 5, 13 and lower 10th) to give them a boost in the summer, as they seem to struggle with wind/sun burn and the added foot traffic. During March, granular moss killer was applied to the greens as many of them have large amounts of moss growing amongst the grass due to the dark, damp conditions through winter. You may have noticed a "blackening" on the greens afterwards. This is nothing to worry about, as it is only the iron in the fertilizer/moss killer.
By early April, as long as the weather continues to get milder, we should start to see results from the slow release fertilizer that was applied to the greens last December. Please take notice of where the ropes have been put up around greens. These are to help direct traffic to stop areas from getting worn and muddy. If driving a buggy, please keep to the rough wherever possible and well away from the greens. Finally, the usual reminder to leave rakes in the centre of the bunkers after you have raked them, and to please repair all of your pitch marks as we have noticed an increase in pitch marks being left over the last few months.
